Icebreaking duties in the Baltic Sea on behalf of Swedish Maritime Administration. Icebreaking duties includes; assistance and towing of merchant vessels to and from Swedish ports, traffic coordination and convoy assistance in cooperation with Finnish icebreakers.

Icebreaking duties in Estonian waters on behalf of Estonian Maritime Administration. Icebreaking duties includes; assistance and towing of merchant vessels to and from Estonian ports.

ACEX - Lomonosov Ridge (2004)
Arctic coring expedition where ice-breaking AHTS Vidar Viking was acting as drilling vessel for core-drilling on the Lomonosov Ridge close to the North Pole. Ice-management was performed by icebreakers Oden (TransAtlantic management) and Sovietkiy Soyouz. This landmark expedition provided valuable experience in relation to ice-management and the operation of drilling vessels in the high arctic. Multi-year ice 10/10.
Finstaship - Baltic (2006)
Icebreaking duties in Finnish waters on behalf of Finstaship and the Finnish Maritime Administration. Icebreaking duties includes; assistance and towing of merchant vessels to and from Finnish ports.
Vidar Viking - March 04, 2006 - April 03, 2006
McMurdo re-supply operation – Antarctic (2006-2010)
Support to the US McMurdo base in the Antarctic with Oden (TransAtlantic management), in combination with scientific research during the last five years. Customer: Swedish Polar Research Secretariat (on behalf of National Science Foundation). Breaking up the channel to McMurdo and managing the ice-situation in the area. Include the management of ice-bergs by using wind to assist the cutting loose of ice-bergs.
Shell - Beaufort Sea (2007)
Tor Viking II operating as icebreaking AHTS, supporting Shell’s drilling activity in the Alaska part of the Beaufort Sea, towing and handling anchors for the drilling rig Kulluk as well as other offshore support activities. This operation gave valuable experience in the provision of various offshore services in ice-conditions including anchor handling in ice. The “Tor Viking II” also passed the Northern Sea Route in November 2007 as part of a convoy transiting to the Atlantic basin. Drifting first and multi-year ice up to 10/10.
Kanumas - East Coast Greenland (2008)
The ice-breaking AHTS Vidar Viking was acting as a coring vessel for a consortium of oil companies (StatoilHydro (operator), Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron, Jogmec and Nunaoil). During the summer of 2008 core samples was drilled from the ice-breaking AHTS Vidar Viking off the North Eastern Coast of Greenland. Ice-management was performed by the ice-breaker Oden (TransAtlantic management). In this expedition valuable experience was gained regarding ice-management, DP in ice conditions as well as offshore services in Arctic conditions. Multiyear ice with growlers and bergy bits.
Ajurak Icebreaker trials - Fram Strait (2009))
Icebreaker and ice-management trials on behalf of ExxonMobil in connection with the Ajurak project. In this research expedition during September 2009 Icebreaker Oden (TransAtlantic management) and Icebreaker Fennica was performing various tests for ExxonMobil.
Shell - Beaufort Sea (2010)
Tor Viking II operating as icebreaking AHTS, supporting Shell’s operations in the Alaskan part of the Beaufort Sea/Chukchi Sea, towing and handling anchors for the drilling rig Kulluk as well as other offshore support activities. Drifting first year and multi-year ice up to 10/10. Tor Viking II transited through Northern Sea Route back to Europe in Decmeber 2010. No other commercial vessel has transited through Northern Sea Route this late in the season before.
Cairn Energy - West Coast Greenland (2010 & 2011)
Icestrengthend AHTS Loke Viking, Icebreaking AHTS Vidar Viking and Icebreaking AHTS Balder Viking has supported Cairn Energy’s drilling campaign off West Coast Greenland during Summer/Autumn 2010. The service included Ice Management and Offshore Services assisting the Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig Stena Don and the Drilling Vessel Stena Forth. Towage and handling of glacial ice consisting of icebergs, bergy bits and growlers. Balder Viking has been contracted also for drilling campaign off West Coast Greenland during Summer/Autumn 2011.
MMT - Baltic Sea (2011)
Icebreaking AHTS Vidar Viking and Tor Viking II assisted the survey company MMT with Ice Management duties during pipe laying operation for the Nord Stream gas pipeline project in the Baltic Sea.
